Dr. Bethany Holden, MD

Medical Cannabis Specialist

It’s all about having a mission. And that’s precisely what Dr. Holden brings to her role as THC Clinic consultant - having survived breast cancer and a debilitating year-long ordeal of multiple surgeries, radiation and chemotherapy treatments. As she recovered, Dr. Holden extensively researched medical marijuana and learned that the medicinal benefits of cannabis were backed by a broad base of scientific evidence and medical support.

Her background as a board certified anesthesiologist gave her the medical perspective to judiciously assess her research findings. She is an active proponent in the public arena of the use of medical marijuana.

Dr. Edward Hopkins, MD

Certified Medical Cannabis Specialist

Experienced in family practice and certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Hopkins began his career as a "Hospitalist", a demanding position responsible for treating adult nonsurgical medical conditions. He is a strong proponent of legalising medical marijuana after thoroughly combing through the medical literature personally and weighing the value of individual studies.

He has made it his mission to integrate traditional primary care with medical marijuana and provide patients with the best possible long-term health when cannabinoids are necessary.

About THC Clinic

Who are we and why do we offer Medical Cannabis to UK patients?

The Herbal Clinic is an UK Medical Cannabis Research Program started in November 2016, and our private limited company was incorporated in January 2017. After obtaining our Drugs and Firearms Licensing Unit (DFLU) License we are now able to offer prescription medical marijuana to our patients in the UK.

Our research program is fully anonymous and free to participate, as long as you are an adult and one of our appointed medical cannabis specialists can diagnose a stress disorder, panic disorder, depression, or if you suffer from chronic pain or insomnia.

Our mission is to, before our research program license ends in 2021, provide solid medical data for UK Government about medical benefits and safety of marijuana usage, in order to allow legalisation of medical cannabis for the broader community.

We believe Tetrahydrocannabinol and a group of Cannabinoids found in Marijuana flowers have beneficial effects on human brain and body functions.

American Cancer Society reports that different compounds in marijuana have different actions in the human body. For example, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) seems to cause the "high" reported by marijuana users, and also can help relieve pain and nausea, reduce inflammation, and can act as an antioxidant. Cannabidiol (CBD) can help treat seizures, can reduce anxiety and paranoia, and can counteract the "high" caused by THC.

More recently, scientists reported that THC and other cannabinoids such as CBD slow growth and/or cause death in certain types of cancer cells growing in lab dishes. Some animal studies also suggest certain cannabinoids may slow growth and reduce spread of some forms of cancer.

For this reason, our Clinic focuses on providing prescribed marijuana flowers, leaving the THC compound at normal level. We choose cannabis strains very carefully, offering organic flowers with high THC and CBD content.
